Author Guidelines

Thank you for considering the Journal of Exercise Physiology and Human Performance (JOSPHE) as a venue for your scholarly work. Authors are requested to carefully read and follow these guidelines before submitting a manuscript.

Scope of Submission

JOSPHE welcomes high-quality manuscripts that contribute to the advancement of human performance science.

The journal particularly welcomes submissions within the following areas:

1. Exercise and Sport Performance

Research addressing exercise physiology, sports performance, training adaptation, physical fitness, fatigue and recovery, sports nutrition, performance assessment, biomechanics, exercise prescription, sports injury prevention, and athletic performance optimization.

2. Cognitive and Mental Performance

Research exploring cognitive function, neuroscience, mental resilience, motivation, emotional regulation, stress management, sleep, mental health, psychological well-being, decision making, and their relationships with human performance.

3. Occupational Health, Leadership, and Workforce Performance

Research examining occupational physiology, workplace health, ergonomics, work capacity, occupational fatigue, workforce productivity, employee performance, leadership, organizational behavior, work engagement, work discipline, motivation, self-efficacy, organizational psychology, human factors, psychological well-being, and individual, environmental, and organizational determinants of human performance across occupational settings.

4. Rehabilitation and Functional Performance

Research related to physiotherapy, rehabilitation sciences, functional capacity, return-to-activity programs, return-to-work, clinical exercise interventions, disability management, healthy aging, nursing interventions, perioperative care, clinical functional outcomes, and functional performance optimization.

Submissions should demonstrate originality, scientific rigor, ethical integrity, and clear theoretical and/or practical contributions to the advancement of human performance science.

Manuscript Preparation

Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the official JOSPHE Manuscript Template.

Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise, and grammatically correct English.

Authors should prepare their manuscripts according to the structure and formatting requirements provided in the official template. Depending on the type of manuscript, specific sections and methodological requirements may vary. Detailed instructions regarding manuscript organization, formatting, tables, figures, references, and reporting standards are provided in the journal template.

For empirical research articles, manuscripts generally include:

Title
Abstract
Keywords
Introduction
Methods
Results and Discussion
Conclusion
Acknowledgments (if applicable)

References

Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal template may be returned to the authors for technical revision before entering the peer-review process.

Abstract

The abstract should:

Contain 150–250 words.
Be written as a single paragraph.
Include:
- Background
- Objective
- Methods
- Results
- Conclusion
- Novelty or scientific contribution
Be followed by a maximum of five keywords.

References

JOSPHE adopts the APA Style (7th Edition) for citations and references.

Authors should ensure that:

A minimum of 20 references are cited.
At least 80% of references are from peer-reviewed international journal articles.
References are preferably published within the last 10 years.
DOI should be included whenever available.
References are arranged alphabetically.

Authors are strongly encouraged to use reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, or similar applications.

Ethical Requirements

Research involving human participants—including athletes, patients, workers, students, healthcare professionals, and members of the general population—must receive approval from an appropriate Ethics Committee or Institutional Review Board (IRB), where applicable.

Authors should provide:

The name of the approving institution.
Ethics approval number.
A statement confirming that informed consent was obtained from participants whenever applicable.

Research involving animals must comply with institutional and national regulations governing animal welfare.

Plagiarism Screening

All submitted manuscripts undergo similarity screening using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer-review process.

As general editorial guidance:

Overall Similarity Index: not more than 20%
Similarity from a single source: preferably not more than 5%

Editorial decisions are based on the context and nature of matched content rather than similarity percentages alone.

Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or non-financial conflicts of interest that could influence the research.

If no conflict of interest exists, authors should include the following statement:

The authors declare that they have no conflict of interest.

Author Contributions

All listed authors must have made substantial scholarly contributions to the study.

The contribution of each author should be clearly stated in the manuscript. Contributions may include study conception, methodology, data collection, data analysis, interpretation of results, manuscript drafting, revision, supervision, or funding acquisition.
